Assignment Seven - Social Media

 Let's Get Social Like most kids my age, social media has not only wiggled its way into my hone, it has become a part of my daily routine. I wake up each morning and adjust my eyes to the brightness of my phone as I respond to all of the missed messages from the night before. I then begin to scroll through each one of my social media applications to see what was posted in the last 8 hours I was sleeping. It seems like a ridiculous way to start the day when you really think about it, but thats just life. One fairly new platform, that seems to take up the most of my time is Tik Tok, and were going to dive into this one today. Tik Tok is a video sharing social networking service created and originating in China by ByteDance.  It started in 2016, but truly gained traction and popularity in 2020, especially when everyone was locked inside for quarantine.

 Everyone's a Critic When you and you family gather around the television at night, scrolling through the channels, trying to pick a movie, how do you decide what to watch? I know my family's go to is the movie review tool, Rotten Tomatoes . This is the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the word critic. Rotten tomatoes is a site that reviews, or critiques, movies and gives viewers their opinion on what to or not to watch. Therefore, I started thinking about who writes these reviews, and thought it would be a perfect example of a media critic. That brings us to the critic I will be discussing today, Jacqueline Coley .  Before her time with Rotten Tomatoes, Jacqueline worked as a freelance journalist and critic for film, often working with festivals. A Fight to See There is a certain feeling of being a kid again every time you walk i nto a movie theater. The sound of your tickets tearing at the door, the smell of popcorn, and the feeling of a cold, dark theater. Nothing beats that feeling, but we haven't felt it in a while. Due to the closure of movie theaters following the coronavirus outbreak, many of us our clothing onto the memory of our last or greatest movie theater experience. Well, let me tell you mine. Creed in 2015, need I say more? I am not a sensitive person, but this movie left me in tears at the end, and still does to this day every time I watch it. This sport/drama film houses action and romance all tied up into one beautiful success story.
