Image
A World of Influencers Each morning I wake up and hop on all of my social media platforms to catch what I might have missed the night before. Although it is a terrible habit your society has grown hungry for a consistent flow of information and social media is how we get it. When social media first blew up and became truly popular it was meant for communication and entertainment purposed. You could tweet, post, like and share other friends content that they personally posted about their lives. As times are changing, social media is used for anything and everything. Politicians are using social media as a campaign platform, small business use social media as a retail site, celebrities use social media as a way to connect with fan, and the list goes on. One truly remarkable social media user that has changed the face of these platforms are influencers. Assignment Nine - Classmate Blog Critique

Image
Star Student As each year passes I am left in awe at the abilities of my classmates. I want to begin this assignment for applauding everyone on finishing strong during a year that seemed impossible to finish once we started. Many of us lost jobs, family members, fell short on our goals, and overcame the impossible during this pandemic. Classes went online and we became out of touch with our peers and professors, but you all did an amazing job through it all. Throughout this class we are able to work along side our peers, drawing ideas from their prompts and improving our own writing styles through theirs. Although this was a very hard decision, as I have watched everyones writing styles improve over the last semester, I must brag about Abby Johnson.  Abby has a clean and informational writing style. As clicking through my classmates blogs, her layout initially caught my eye. The layout of her blog is easily maneuverable along with intriguing to the eye. Once you click on her page you

Assignment Eight - International Media Review

Image
International Media Usage As an American, in my prime age for total internet usage and consumption, I often wonder how other "kids" my age around the world use social media, and the internet like I do. This assignment seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore how the countries use social media in comparison to Americans. All in all about 4.2 billion people world wide are using social media, thats a little over half of our worlds population!  Not only is that already an insane amount of people, the numbers of social media users are growing each year, with the most used site being Facebook. Worldwide digital growth itself is making monumental strides each year, so it only makes sense for social media usage to spike along with it. Facebook reigns as the front runner for most used social media site world wide, clocking in about 2.6 billion users, and country housing the most users is India.  Next in line is youtube, followed by WhatsApp. Each of these applications is used

Assignment Seven - Social Media

Let's Get Social Like most kids my age, social media has not only wiggled its way into my hone, it has become a part of my daily routine. I wake up each morning and adjust my eyes to the brightness of my phone as I respond to all of the missed messages from the night before. I then begin to scroll through each one of my social media applications to see what was posted in the last 8 hours I was sleeping. It seems like a ridiculous way to start the day when you really think about it, but thats just life. One fairly new platform, that seems to take up the most of my time is Tik Tok, and were going to dive into this one today. Tik Tok is a video sharing social networking service created and originating in China by ByteDance.  It started in 2016, but truly gained traction and popularity in 2020, especially when everyone was locked inside for quarantine.

Everyone's a Critic When you and you family gather around the television at night, scrolling through the channels, trying to pick a movie, how do you decide what to watch? I know my family's go to is the movie review tool, Rotten Tomatoes . This is the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the word critic. Rotten tomatoes is a site that reviews, or critiques, movies and gives viewers their opinion on what to or not to watch. Therefore, I started thinking about who writes these reviews, and thought it would be a perfect example of a media critic. That brings us to the critic I will be discussing today, Jacqueline Coley .  Before her time with Rotten Tomatoes, Jacqueline worked as a freelance journalist and critic for film, often working with festivals. This background led her o her position within Rotten Tomatoes. She " is an Editor at Rotten Tomatoes primarily covering independent films, festivals, and the awards season ." She has a passion for film and i

A Fight to See There is a certain feeling of being a kid again every time you walk i nto a movie theater. The sound of your tickets tearing at the door, the smell of popcorn, and the feeling of a cold, dark theater. Nothing beats that feeling, but we haven't felt it in a while. Due to the closure of movie theaters following the coronavirus outbreak, many of us our clothing onto the memory of our last or greatest movie theater experience. Well, let me tell you mine. Creed in 2015, need I say more? I am not a sensitive person, but this movie left me in tears at the end, and still does to this day every time I watch it. This sport/drama film houses action and romance all tied up into one beautiful success story. Creed opens to tell the story of an up and coming boxer, trying to live up to his father, Apollo Creed. Michael B. Jordan stars as the lead, Adonis Johnson, son of Apollo. Adonis pulled former heavyweight champion, Rocky Balboa out of retirement to train him to be the best and

Assignment Four - Technology

Image
The Latest and Greatest Technology is a broad and ever changing market. Every day a new product is released, but our tech hungry society is always standing by wanting the next new thing within minutes of a release. I really cant relate to this hunger for the latest and greatest technological advancement, as I have never considered myself a very tech savvy person, those things don't ever truly excite me. However, there are a few tech things in my life I am VERY picky about. As a college golfer and workout junkie, headphones have proven to be one thing that I am willing to spend a little extra cash on and I find myself shopping for them more often than I need. Although I am a Beats Pro fan, on my last shopping spree I came across some earbuds that surprised me. AfterShoks Open-Ear headphones , a headphone set that does not go into your ear, but sits just in front of the ear. I first saw these headphones on a youtube channel for a popular fitness influencer, Devon Levesque . In his Be
