Assignment Four - Technology

The Latest and Greatest

Technology is a broad and ever changing market. Every day a new product is released, but our tech hungry society is always standing by wanting the next new thing within minutes of a release. I really cant relate to this hunger for the latest and greatest technological advancement, as I have never considered myself a very tech savvy person, those things don't ever truly excite me. However, there are a few tech things in my life I am VERY picky about. As a college golfer and workout junkie, headphones have proven to be one thing that I am willing to spend a little extra cash on and I find myself shopping for them more often than I need. Although I am a Beats Pro fan, on my last shopping spree I came across some earbuds that surprised me. AfterShoks Open-Ear headphones, a headphone set that does not go into your ear, but sits just in front of the ear.

I first saw these headphones on a youtube channel for a popular fitness influencer, Devon Levesque. In his Bear Crawl marathon to raise awareness for suicide prevention. While he accomplished this seeming impossible task, he did so sporting AfterShoks headphones. These headphones use bone conducting technology to allow the user to hear music or sounds without having to block off the ear canal. This allows you to listen to music, or talk on the phone clearly while also being able to hear what is around you. This allows for safer workouts, opens communication in an office space, and simply better protects your ear drum from direct sound. This product is definitely not for everyone and can take some getting used to, especially if you're trying to listen to music while all holding a conversation.

These headphones are a hit and I can defiantly see why. With a comfortable and sleek design at a reasonable price, if bone conducting headphones are for you then these are the way to go! All in all I heard good thing about these from the unboxing to the actual wear, but not everyone can be perfect. A few negatives to these headphones start with the ability for others to hear your music or what you are listening to if you have the volume above about 60 percent. This somewhat ruins your privacy and can be annoying to others if you are in a quiet setting.

When it comes to technology, nothing really surprises me these days, but bone conduction headphones definitely did. The ability to multi task is something so sought after in today's society and these allow for just that. A reasonable price and a cool design place these as top tier in my book and consumers agree. Ranked as the best on many different sites, the rumors don't lie. These headphones not only talk the talk, but they walk the walk.
