Assignment One - Music

For the Ladies

 There is no surprise that which each passing year female artists are becoming more powerful and working diligently to have their voices heard through their music. Female artists such as Meg Thee Stallion, and Lizzo, and Katy Perry are an empowering voice for women of all ages. While these amazingly talented women are not the only artists who speak loud and proud for women of all ages, they are the three we will talk about today.

Megan Thee Stalion recently released a hit single "Body" in late 2020. While this song my be viewed as an explict song to start a hit new tiktik Trent it is so much more than that. Megan speaks to her confidence and how she knows that she is a hot commodity due to her looks and sizes. She also makes it known that she has fought a lot of hard battles to get to this point where she can love herself enough to sing about it. 

Lizzo is an artist who speaks to body positivity. Loving every inch of yourself no matter what you look like or what others may think of you. Some of her top songs including "Good as Hell" and "Truth Hurts" are a voice for all women. These songs speak to feeling good in your own skin and knowing that you have the power to do anything you set your mind to.

In 2020 Katy Perry released her album featuring hit song Smile which talks about getting her happiness back. This song is a reminder that it is okay to not be okay, and eventually you WILL get your happiness back.

While female artists have been around forever, the messages they are now sending are more powerful than ever. A simple song can give a girl the courage she needs to get up in the morning and put on that outfit she's been wanting to wear. In a male dominated industry artists like Katy Perry, Meg, and Lizzo are working diligently to be heard. Each of these women has realizes hit songs that are fun to dance to, but also resonate in the hearts and minds of those who listen.
